The Celtics attacked aggressively to defeat the Heat in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Mike Tuck expects a strong response from Miami in Game 4.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said Boston played with “more force” in Game 3. He was correct. The Celtics appeared more aggressive. Their star players looked like stars; four starters scored 20 or more points. Boston was aggressive in getting into the paint, which was precisely what they needed to do. They had 60 points in the paint vs Miami’s 36.

That’s how they won the game: being aggressive and going to the basket. The major play that stuck out to me was Jayson Tatum’s slam on Tyler Herro. That is what Brad Stevens requires from his players.

The return of Gordon Hayward to Boston was also significant for the Celtics. Having another player on the floor who contributes value, makes plays, and defends was a huge advantage. It’s significant for them to have another’soldier’ back in the lineup.

The Celtics responded to Miami’s zone defense, which had perplexed them in the series’ first two games, by attacking and getting into the paint. A zone can limit you in the correct spots, but if you can find the holes and get two feet in the paint, the zone fully opens up because the inside defense collapses.
If you are simply moving the ball around the perimeter against the zone and not attacking the spaces, the zone will work against you unless you have fantastic outside shooting.
