Packers head coach Matt LaFleur began his media session Wednesday with a lengthy statement about Damar Hamlin.
LaFleur stated that Green Bay Packers players will have access to specialists after practices during the week if they require assistance dealing with the situation.
The coach stated that he was not watching the Monday night game, but he quickly understood what happened and began discussing the problem with the other Packers coaches.
Hamlin’s issue is affecting teams throughout the league. While conceding that injuries are inevitable in football, LaFleur stated that he had “never witnessed anything quite like” what happened to Hamlin.
“What we all observed Monday night,” LaFleur added, “was a horrible situation. It was incredibly upsetting, and it kind of puts what we do into perspective, and how it overrides anything else in life, is just these athletes’ and everyone’s health and safety. That was difficult to watch. Obviously, our thoughts and prayers are with Damar Hamlin, his family, and the Buffalo Bills.”
