Unai Emery insists that the opportunity to become the new head coach of Aston Villa was too good to pass up.After agreeing to leave Villarreal, the former Arsenal manager will formally begin work at Villa Park on November 1, assuming a work visa has been secured.
He had spent two years with the Yellow Submarines, winning the Europa League in 2021, but he couldn’t turn down the chance to succeed Steven Gerrard at Villa.
He stated at his final press conference in Spain, “Here I have felt something of the heart again, but the profession is within me.”

Emery joins Villa, who are currently 15th in the Premier League after sacking Gerrard last week.
Aaron Danks, the team’s caretaker manager, led them to a 4-0 victory over Brentford on Sunday and will be in charge again on Saturday when they go to Newcastle.
Emery turned down a move to St James’ Park last year because he wanted to continue Villarreal’s Champions League campaign.
Before joining the Premier League, Emery won a Ligue 1 title with Paris Saint-Germain, as well as two French Cups and two French League Cups. He also won.
He has won three Europa Leagues with Sevilla and a fourth with Villarreal, becoming him the competition’s most successful manager ever.Gerrard’s departure occurred 11 months after joining Villa Park from Rangers, when he led the club to its first Scottish league title in ten years.
